Service Learning
Project Based Serving Learning is an initiative to encourage students to engage in:
- Building social, civic and academic skills, such as research
- Inquiry, identity, leadership and reflection
- Action steps that affect their community and democratic life
For a CPS diploma, all students are required to have two service learning projects by the time they graduate.
At Prosser, all students have an opportunity to engage in one project based service learning opportunity through their World Language class and an additional opportunity in their Civics or AP Government class. That way, all students have the opportunity to complete their Service Learning requirement through their classes.
One service learning project is waived for International Baccalaureate (IB) students who have completed their DP Creativity - Activity - Service or CP Community Engagement, which serve as the equivalent to a second project.
