People You Should Know PRINCIPAL(Mr. Hunter) The Principal of the school is the educational leader of the school and is responsible for the operation of the building. He has ultimate authority in the school. ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL (Dr. Luna) The Assistant Principal helps the Principal with the day-to-day operations of the school. He serves in the place of the Principal when he is out of the building. ATTENDANCE OFFICER (Mrs. Castillo) Students with attendance problems, as well as cuts/tardies, will be referred to the Attendance Office. The students' parents will be notified by telephone and/or letter. The Attendance Office also issues early dismissals and student IDs. COUNSELORS (Mr. Connolly, Mrs. Lindskog, Ms. Schnur and Mrs.Martel-Ortiz) You have been assigned a counselor for your four years at Prosser. This person will be available in the Counseling Office to assist you with your high school course of study and personal problems. Counselors also administer tests, issue work permits, obtain information on college scholarships, process transfers to other schools, update summer school grades, assist in preparing applications for work and college and write letters of recommendation. You should feel free to make an appointment to see your counselor, but, you are not permitted to see your counselor during class time without the permission of your classroom teacher. CURRICULUM COORDINATOR (Mr. Sielepkowski) The Curriculum Coordinator works with the faculty to prepare the highest quality possible level of education at Prosser. He oversees the School Accreditation, School Improvement Plan and the general curriculum. DISCIPLINARIAN (Mr. Nieves) Students with discipline problems are referred to the school's disciplinarian. These problems are to be taken seriously and will be dealt with rapidly, firmly and fairly. DIVISION (HOMEROOM) TEACHER Your division teacher is one of the most important people in the school. Your division teacher will keep track of all aspects of your attendance and will make personal contact with your parents when necessary. He/she is a source for personal problems that may be interfering with your progress in school. The division teacher should also keep you informed of all daily school bulletins and activities. FRESHMAN ADMISSIONS OFFICER (Adriana Szymd) The freshman admissions officer is responsible for recruiting and making sure that the students accepted into Prosser have followed all Board of Education guidelines in the process. She will be the person who will be an important contact for you during your first year at Prosser. EDUCATION TO CAREERS COORDINATOR All aspects of the Career program at Prosser are under the direction of the ETC Coordinator. When the student chooses his or her career major, the ETC assists the Programmer in preparing the schedule. He supervises the entire career program and assists students wishing to enroll in special programs. GIFTED PROGRAMS COORDINATOR (Ms. Stephenson/Ms. Jennings) The I.B. Coordinator oversees the 120 students and faculty involved the the I.B. Program, which is a school-within-a-school at Prosser. He also oversees the other Gifted Programs at Prosser such as Prosser Scholars, Gifted Humanities, and the Advanced Placement Classes. PROGRAMMER (Ms. Straub) Each year the master program for the school and each of your individual programs are prepared by the programmer. She also assists teachers in the recording of marks and Failure Notices. SCHOOL NURSE A school nurse is available on a part-time basis. The nurse will help you with your medical records, physical exams, medical referrals, etc. Please confer with your counselor as to her availability. SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGIST (Ms. Ramey) Counselors may refer students to our part-time school psychologist. She will interview and, if necessary, refer students to the proper agencies for further help and advice. SCHOOL SOCIAL WORKER Our worker is available to help those students who are having problems at home and/or at school. Please contact your counselor for more information about available services. SPEECH THERAPIST A part-time speech therapist is available for students who have speech or language problems. |
