Modern Machine Technology

Modern Machine Technology teaches students how to use precision measuring tools, operate machine tools, read blueprints and create programs in CAD/CAM. Students who graduate from this shop are prepared to enter a apprenticeship , as well as many other fields in machine shop.

A graduating Senior may earn up to 8 certifications in Level 1 from National Institute For Metalworking Skills (NIMS). It is the only shop in Chicago that is nationally certified by NIMS.

Specifications:

• As Sophomores the students in this program learn the basic of measurement and machining as well as simple 3-axis CNC milling.
  
  
• As Juniors the students have advanced machining projects to do as well as learn and use more complex computer software.

• As Seniors the students do blueprints readings and state of the art CAD/CAM.
