Students - Do you need Service Learning Hours?

Earn 6 hours by participating in the 2009 Team H.E.A.T. Project on November 7th. Help families save energy and stay warm this winter. You need to register by October 21st!

2009 Team H.E.A.T. - Time to Weatherize!

Winter’s chill will hit Chicago before you know it. Now is the time Peoples Gas customers, especially those that are low and fixed income, need to prepare their homes for the winter to ensure they are safe and warm. Weatherization and conservation are important tools during the heating season to help manage rising energy costs. You can help provide these important tools to those who need it most while earning service learning credits.

Volunteer Now and Earn Service Learning Hours
All volunteers will be granted six community service hours. As a member of Team H.E.A.T (Home Energy Assistance Together), you will weatherize the homes of low and fixed income residents in Chicago. This includes putting plastic sheeting over windows, covering outlets for air leaks and weather stripping doors. Homes will be chosen based upon income eligibility.

Each volunteer will be part of a team that is led by a captain who will provide guidance to team members. Each team will visit and weatherize 4 to 5 homes. Customers that participate and allow us in their homes are greatly appreciative of our efforts and the energy saving resources and tips we provide them. You can help make this project a success.

Refreshments, t-shirts, work supplies and transportation from the meeting site to the homes will be provided. Volunteers will have a great time providing an essential service while making a difference in our community.
